Biography

Michelle works in the Mental Health Workstream and is currently working on an evaluation of the Queensland Government Suicide Prevention Strategy 2003-2008 and undertaking her Ph D part-time.  Michelle has worked on an assortment of research initiatives in the areas of mental health services and suicide prevention.  These include the Reducing Depression and Suicide amongst Older Australians: A Cluster Randomised Control Trial in Primary Health Care, the Australian Mental Health Outcomes and Classification Network, and the Media Monitoring Project which looks at media reporting of suicide and mental illness.  She also teaches in the Master of Public Health subject Health Economics and Program Evaluation as well as in the short course Health Program Evaluation 2.   

Michelle’s past research work has been in the areas of women’s health, men’s health, and primary health care.  Other teaching experiences include undergraduate medicine and health sciences at Melbourne, Monash and La Trobe Universities, as well as teaching overseas on Masters in Public Health preparation programs for Ministry of Health officials in the Lao P.D.R.
